Principal Investigator: Dr. Dina Fonseca

Dr. Dina Fonseca, is a professor and Chair of the Department of Entomology at Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. Her research examines the ecology of ticks and other vectors, the pathogens they carry, and strategies to reduce human exposure. She is a founder of New Jersey Ticks 4 Science (NJT4S!), where she helped develop a crowd science approach to tick surveillance and public outreach across New Jersey.

Emily Fontaine is the Research Project Coordinator with New Jersey Ticks 4 Science (NJT4S!). She identifies ticks, conducts extraction and pathogen testing, and helps track tick activity across New Jersey. She is also actively involved in public outreach, leading educational events and presentations that provide clear, practical guidance on reducing tick exposure and disease risk.
